Itachi was a shinobi of Konoha village’s famous Uchiha clan. He also served as an Anbu Captain, which was Konoha’s team of covert operatives. Itachi was the first born child of Fugaku Uchiha and Mikoto. He was a child of wartimes, being an adolescent during the Third Shinobi World War. This exposed him to violence and horrors that most people aren’t aware of until later in life. And it was this exposure in his early years that caused in him trauma and a resentment for violence. This would be the driving force of what fueled his ambitions to train so hard and become the strongest ninja, so that he might one day be able to put an end to senseless fighting of the world.

Itachi Uchiha showed his prowess as a shinobi at a very early age. When he was 6, he enrolled into the Academy and due to his exceptional ability to learn skills quickly, would go on to be the top scoring student and the best of his generation, passing the genin-exam in record time.

Itachi’s exceptional rise in ranks drew the attention of Konoha’s leaders; his father even began to let him participate in secret clan meetings under the Naka Shrine. By age 8, Itachi had awakened his Sharingan after witnessing the death of Tenma Izumo during a mission gone wrong, wherein the Fire Daimyo’s convoy was attacked by enemy ninja. At 10 years old, Itachi had became a chunin after the Hidden Leaf Village leaders had allowed Itachi to undergo the Chunin exams by himself. By 11, Itachi was already in Anbu, which made him an idol for Sasuke to look up to as well as great source of pride for his family and especially his father.

Few understood Itachi and assumed that his isolative nature was the result of his abilities being far greater than his peers. In reality, it was his disproval of the shinobi way of life that kept him adrift. Being in Anbu, his father and the Uchihas encouraged him to climb the ladder within the Anbu ranks, which would allow them to better spy on Konoha’s politics, with the intention being to better achieve their ends for a future planned coup d’etat. Itachi, however, anticipating their rebellion causing other villages to intervene and eventually leading to another full-blown World War, could not support this. Instead, he became a double-agent, reporting the actions of his Uchiha clan to the Third Hokage and Konoha Council, ideally to find a resolution that was peaceful.
